Once thought to be a bit 'new age' and off-the-wall, sustainable eco friendly building is no longer an emerging trend but an essential part of today's thinking in the construction, extension and conversion of property. The Government's 'Code for Sustainable Homes' requires that all new homes are zero carbon by 2016 and there are grants becoming available to upgrade existing homes and make them much more energy efficient.
A considerable increase in government intervention with a requirement for new homes to be 'carbon zero' by 2016, increased energy costs and a high level of consumer demand has made sustainable building and finding sustainable solutions to cutting costs and increasing energy benefits a must.
There are many exciting and innovative technologies available to us now and the choice has never been greater. What were once considered untried technologies are now accepted as viable, cost-effective and sustainable alternatives to more conventional methods and solutions. The energy market in particular is becoming increasingly more sophisticated and the incentive to install these new solutions for cost savings and long-term energy benefits is now more and more compelling.
